We are helping firearm retailers make well-informed security-related decisions to deter and prevent thefts.

Firearms stolen from FFL retailers are a serious threat to public safety, and no one wants to prevent the theft of firearms more than the licensed retailers that sell them. To help combat the problem, NSSF and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have partnered to create Operation Secure Store® (OSS), a comprehensive joint initiative to help Federal Firearms Licensees (FFL) make well-informed security-related decisions to deter and prevent thefts. The initiative includes educational programming, including an ongoing series of regional seminars hosted by ATF. Additionally, NSSF matches ATF reward offers for information regarding firearm burglary and theft.

ATF and the firearm industry collaborate to keep firearm retail stores secure, prosecute individuals who burglarize firearm retailers, and to inform the public that it’s illegal to purchase a firearm for someone who cannot pass a background check.
